We are growing and with that growth comes the need for a UI/UX Developer to join our team. The Opportunity

As UI/UX Developer, you will help shape major features and own areas of work from design through to completion. You will influence the design and development process, help ensure that milestones are met within the timeline, and that work is reviewed for quality. Partnering closely with Product Management, Development, and our user community, you will be the advocate for great design and all things usability. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designing holistic systems, flows, and interfaces that are simple, elegant, and beautiful through detailed wireframes, visual compositions, and prototypes that communicate design intent, and client and user feedback; you will own the design process from inception to realization (and beyond!)
  • Drawing insights by collaborating with Plain Language Experts and Linguists, and turning those insights into tangible design solutions
  • Being a relentless advocate for accessibility, usability, and inclusiveness
  • Leading the selection process for which design tools we adopt, and continuously seek to be well-informed regarding new software and design concepts
  • Collaborating with Development on all the details that make an experience delightful through the creation and maintenance of design systems or design languages, documentation, and interaction specifications to ensure future congruence 
  • Managing time effectively and executes according to commitments
  • Bringing all your creativity to the table – and being comfortable with and professional about the ideas of others
  •  Acting as liaison between skritswap and the larger UI/UX community
  • Being eager to wear many hats that might change day to day – we’re a growing company!

Within 1 month, you will:

  • Be fully supported through completing our company-wide onboarding program. You’ll learn about Skritswap’s history, business details, and future direction.
  • Work closely with the CTO to develop a custom 100-day plan
  • Review all aspects of current interfaces to Skritswap technology 
  • Begin designing new general user interface/experience
  • Integrate general UI/UX practices into all agile development teams
  • Working with tools like Harvest and Trello to collaborate with the team
  • Not spend your time through workbooks and stale code you will be able to dive into coding right away 

 

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Complete designs for a revamped user interface
  • Lead the creation of overall design specification for all Skritswap products
  • Lead the testing and QA for interface development
  • Have made a visible impact on Skritswap’s technology that all users experience

 

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Determine requirements for additional product design resources and the growth of the team
  • Make sure all existing products adhere to overall design specifications
  • Lead the growth of the UI/UX team through recruitment, interviewing and attending industry events and meetups

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (such as React, Angular, or Vue) and expert cutting edge CSS skills
  • Strong sense of design and UX fundamentals
  • Exhibit a high degree of accountability and embrace autonomy
  • Creative approach and an eye for usability and accessibility
  • Have a point of view but are low ego

We really love folks who:

  • Have proven experience in programming techniques and processes, infrastructure, databases, and application development
  • Have past experience working within an engineering team at a high growth start-up environment 
  • Have experience in building a robust and scalable service-backed product and infrastructure within a collaborative engineering team
  • Have familiarity with the NLP/AI industry

The Interview Process

We look forward to learning more about you! Our process includes a phone interview, two in-person interviews, and a take-home challenge designed to assess your skill set and not totally interrupt your schedule.

 

The Environment

This role mainly works out of a dynamic office setting and requires travel 30% of the time. We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations and will work with you to meet your needs.
