Job Summary
As Computational Linguist, you will help shape the way that skritswap delivers its technologies. Working closely with the CTO, Product Management, and Development, you will bridge the language-gap across the organization. This is a position with great variety and growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Being a relentless advocate for all our users
- Contributing to all skritswap products, under the direction of the CTO
- Working with the CTO to help set strategy around how language is integrated in algorithms and approaches
- Documenting all language-based approaches for a variety of Internal and external audiences
- Acting as skritswap’s Interface with the larger linguist community
- Implement strategies for finding and integrating world-class training data in a variety of areas
- Interface with ML colleagues to facilitate building of effective learning models
- Working in harmony with the members of your team and others in the organization
- Picking up new tools and technologies quickly and effectively
- Being eager to wear many hats that might change day to day – we’re a growing company!
- Bringing all your creativity and ideas to the table – and being comfortable with and professional about the ideas of others
- Helping drive the selection process for which language tools and datasets we adopt
Great to Have (Most Important Skills)
Don’t worry if you’re missing a couple of these, as long as you’re willing to learn!
- 5+ years Development experience in innovative, language-based environments
- Post-secondary education in linguistics, preferably at graduate level
- Mastery in programming techniques and processes, infrastructure, databases, and application development
- Data science experience
- Ability to write both prototype and production code – and to know the differences!
- Creative approach and an eye for usability and accessibility
- Top-notch communication skills
- An abiding love of language – at all its levels – and the desire to democratize content
- To be with the team in the office at least 3 days a week (some remote work allowed)
Nice to Have (Bonus Skills)
- Python/Django experience
- Cloud Computing skills and experience
- Fluent in multiple languages (English + …)
- Experience in fast-growing start-up environments
- Familiarity with the NLP/ML/AI industry
- SaaS-based technology experience
- Team-building and team-leading experience
- Experience in the QA process
- Agile experience
